Kawana Blinds installs motorised blinds on the Sunshine Coast with three motor brands: Somfy, Automate and Lynx. We fit motorised outdoor blinds and motorised awnings on new installs and can retrofit many existing ones, from Caloundra to Noosa. Hardwired, solar or battery, with remote, app, voice and sensor control, and if your motors need wiring we supply the licensed electrician too.
A motor turns a blind you have to think about into one that just works. Close the whole patio with one button, let a sensor pull the awning in when the wind comes up, or set the blinds to drop on hot afternoons while you're at work.
These are the products we can supply with a motor. Pick the blind or awning first, then the motor that suits how you want to control it.

More about Somfy motorsRollease Acmeda's motorisation range, with hardwired, solar and rechargeable battery motors. A great fit for retrofits and spots without power, and the Pulse hub gives you app control, timers and scenes from anywhere.
More about Automate motorsQuiet, high-torque 240V hardwired motors that are a cost-effective choice for standard outdoor blind setups. Ideal if you mainly want reliable remote control without a full smart-home system.
More about Lynx motorsAll three are reliable. The real differences are how they're powered and how you want to control them.
| Brand | Best for | Power options | App & smart-home control | Sensors | Relative price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Somfy | Smart-home fans who want the widest range of options | Hardwired 240V; battery/solar for some setups | Somfy TaHoma app and smart-home integration | Sun and wind sensors | Premium |
| Automate | Retrofits, spots without power, app control | Hardwired, solar and battery | Automate Pulse hub and app; popular voice assistants and smart-home systems | Wind and motion sensors | Confirm in quote |

Every motorised blind comes with a way to run it by hand, usually a remote or a wall switch. Multi-channel remotes let you move one blind or a whole group at once, which is handy on a patio with three or four blinds.
Add a hub and you can go further. The Automate Pulse hub connects your blinds to an app, so you can open and close them from your phone from anywhere, set timers, save scenes like "evening" or "storm", and group blinds by room or side of the house. Through the hub you can also use popular voice assistants and smart-home systems. Somfy offers the same kind of control through its TaHoma app.
Sensors are where motorisation really earns its keep on the coast. A wind or motion sensor watches for movement, and when the wind picks up past a safe level it tells the motor to retract the awning or raise the blind. That matters here, with strong southeasterlies and summer storms that can roll in fast while you're at work or asleep. A folding arm awning left out in a storm can be badly damaged; with a sensor it simply pulls itself in.
Solar and battery motors need no wiring at all. A rechargeable battery runs the motor, and with solar a small panel keeps it topped up. They're ideal for retrofitting motors to existing blinds, for spots without a power point nearby, and for keeping blinds working during a power outage.
Hardwired motors run from 240V mains power. They're a great choice for new builds and renovations, where wiring can be run to each blind before the ceiling goes up, and they never need charging. They do need a licensed electrician to connect them, which is where we come in.
Going motorised? We can supply a licensed electrician to hardwire your blinds or awnings, so it's one booking, one team and one quote from start to finish. No chasing your own sparky or trying to line up two trades on the same day.
Usually $600–$1,200 per blind, depending on the motor brand and extras (e.g. remotes, sensors, smart-home control). Our measure and quote is free, so you'll know the exact cost before you commit. If you're still deciding whether to motorise at all, read our guide to motorised vs manual outdoor blinds.
